Aziz Ansari

After hearing official confirmation just yesterday that Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer would indeed be directing the upcoming action comedy 30 Minutes or Less, we now have word from THR that comedian Aziz Ansari (Funny People, "Parks & Recreation") has landed the leading role in the story of a junior high history teacher (Ansari) and a pizza-delivery man who are forced to rob a bank when one of them is strapped to a bomb vest. The role of the pizza guy is yet to be cast, however, Danny McBride is still in talks to play one of the bad guys looking for some quick cash. I'm really liking this combination of fast-rising talent thus far.

Ansari has proven his fantastic comedic abilities with small, scene stealing parts in films like Funny People, Observe & Report and I Love You, Man. Coming up, he will serve as master of ceremonies at the MTV Movie Awards and has struck a few deals with director Jason Woliner and Judd Apatow for a few comedies set up at Universal, including a spin-off featuring his Funny People stand-up character Randy (or Raaaaaaaandy as he's known in some circles). But for now we'll be looking forward to seeing who else will join Ansari in this comedy that is shaping up to be a solid follow-up to Ruben Fleischer's work on Zombieland. Sound good?
