Disney and Robert Zemeckis Partnerning to Adapt 'Dark Life': "
Dark Life

Disney may be shutting down the Robert Zemeckis-led ImageMovers Digital, but Variety reports that is not stopping the Mouse House and the studio from striking a deal to adapt the upcoming Kat Falls young adult novel Dark Life, a story set in our near-future in which rising ocean levels and natural catastrophes have led some people to homestead on the ocean floor and kids develop supernatural powers similar to sea creatures. The plot heats up when an underwater boy and a surface girl join forces to uncover a government conspiracy. Zemeckis will also be directing this first film in the hopeful start of a family franchise. Read on!

Though this seems like it would be the perfect fit for Zemeckis to continue to showcase his obsession with motion capture animation, his previous endeavors that didn't require the technology to tell the story have left me cold on his using it, and I just want him to stop already. There's no word on whether or not he'll use motion capture for this, but let's just hope he's taking a break from it. Though the story sounds somewhat interesting, it seems like another in the long line of young adult adaptations trying to ride the coattails of the Harry Potter franchise. We'll have to wait and see how this one comes together. Anyone else interested?
