Greek Director Dennis Iliadis Will Have to 'Pay the Ghost' Next: "
Dennis Iliadis

After directing Last House on the Left, last year's remake of the brutal 1972 Wes Craven film of the same name, it looks like director Dennis Iliadis will move into the realm of the supernatural as Variety reports he has signed on to direct the thriller Pay the Ghost, a Dan Kay scripted adaptation of a short story from author Tim Lebbon which kicks off on Halloween night, when a couple's son is mysteriously abducted. A year later, they begin to sense his presence in frightening ways. A string of terrifying clues leads them to search for the boy in New York, where they uncover ancient secrets and discover a vicious, vengeful spirit.

Sounds kinda hokey to me, but maybe Iliadis, who crafted a fairly edgy remake in the The Last House on the Left, can bring some grit to this flimsy premise. This project is another new one leading the start of a new direction for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, who previously developed more low key features like United 93 and Synecdoche, New York, but will start focusing on more commercial projects like their forthcoming (terrible-looking) remake of Death at a Funeral. We'll keep our eye on this one as it develops anyway, since it does sound cool, so stay tuned. Anyone who liked Last House of the Left like the sound of this?
