Leonardo DiCaprio Might Be Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar Hoover

Leonardo DiCaprio Might Be Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar Hoover: "
Leonardo DiCaprio

We learned earlier this month that Clint Eastwood was interested in directing a J. Edgar Hoover biopic with a script by Milk writer Dustin Lance Black. Not only does Deadline confirm that Eastwood is directing the biopic, but they also report Leonardo DiCaprio is in early talks to play Hoover, the man who founded the FBI in 1935 and is responsible for putting together an elite organization tasked with investigating and preventing the most dangerous, heinous and notorious crimes. Universal made the choice to pass since they weren't up for taking another risk with a period picture, so Warner Bros is getting things moving instead.

Apparently Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment had been developing a story about the founding of the FBI for a while, and when they brought the script to Universal it was exactly the kind of movie they didn't want to make (fools!). So Grazer then brought the script to Eastwood (they've been friendly since working on The Changeling) but even a director like Eastwood couldn't sway Universal. But that studio's loss is WB's gain, especially if DiCaprio signs on for his third biopic after his turn as Howard Hughes in Marty Scorsese's The Aviator, which I actually enjoyed quite a bit, as well as Steven Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can, which is in fact based on a very true story. I'll definitely be looking forward to this biopic. How about you guys?
