Akiva Goldsman's Directoial Debut Will Be with 'Man & Wife': "
Akiva Goldsman

Just the other day there was speculation that writer Akiva Goldsman would make his feature directorial debut with Paranormal Activity 2 until it was revealed he would only join the project as an exec producer. However, it looks like he'll be sitting in the director's chair of a feature length film after all, as LA Times' 24 Frames reports he has officially signed on to direct Man and Wife, an all-too-familiar story of a seemingly ordinary husband who's actually a hitman and what happens when his wife begins to suspect something. If I didn't know better, we already saw a trailer for this, and it's called Killers. But Hollywood loves recycling.

Obviously this also shares some similarities with Mr. and Mrs. Smith, or even better, True Lies, and like many movies similar to this, much of its success will depend on who's cast as the leads. With Goldsman we already know we can expect intense action sequences, because even though he's never directed a film, he's been responsible for writing big budget, though not always quality, films like The Da Vinci Code, Batman Forever and Lost in Space not to mention producing recent and upcoming blockbusters like I Am Legend, Hancock, The Losers and Jonah Hex. However, I don't have much confidence in the story since it comes from Alan McElroy, who wrote such stellar films as The Marine, Wrong Turn and Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever.
